The Role
- To work remotely and as part of the OH team, including administrative and screening staff, Occupational Health Physician and Clinical Performance Manager
- To take responsibility for the day-to-day clinical delivery of the service through provision of sickness absence case management, health surveillance, pre-employment clearance, immunisation and needle-stick advice as required and specific to each contract
- To ensure that you keep up to date with your professional practice, evidence and OH law and are delivering a service in line with current thinking and best practice
- Work in liaison with other agencies to ensure the health and well-being of the workforce as appropriate, e.g. infection control and risk management. Attend meetings in connection with all OH functions as required
- To contribute to the strategic development, and implementation of the Occupational Health department aims and objectives
- To ensure the maintenance, management and supervision of confidential health records in keeping with company policy
- To assist the Clinical Performance Manager, as required in the organisation and delivery of the Seasonal Flu Vaccination Programme’s
- Implement and maintain relevant health surveillance programmes
- Work with the nurse manager to identify trends in workforce ill health and bring to the customers’ attention wherever appropriate
- Participate in clinical audit and research and assist the development of this within the Occupational Health team
- Pro-actively participate in health promotion opportunities to assist in empowering staff to achieve healthy working lives and to work with outside agencies where appropriate
- Participate and take an active role in Clinical Supervision to ensure dissemination of knowledge and best practice throughout the team
- Maintain clean and appropriately stocked clinic rooms, including ensuring calibration of equipment, fridge monitoring, stock rotation and waste disposal
- Assist in the planning, organising and evaluation of new and on-going Occupational Health initiatives and services in liaison with Senior Management Team
- To assist with delivery of other Occupational Health services to any Team Prevent contract, to meet business needs
- Effectively input and recall data using the management database system (eOPAS) in line with the company requirements for clinical staff
- To identify any cost savings applicable to the Occupational Health department generally which will not compromise patient care or staff health
- Assist with recruitment within the Occupational Health Team wherever appropriate
- Maintenance of statistical information for completing client reports as contract specific
- Work within the agreed company policies
- Awareness and involvement as required in auditing processes and assessment
Person Specification
- Registered General Nurse
- Qualification in Occupational Health to diploma or degree level
- Computer literate
- Experience of working with Word, Excel, Outlook and a software OH management system
- Minimum of two years’ experience within an occupational health environment
- Experience of delivering Occupational Health services to a variety of business sectors
- Good working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation
- Experience of delivering case management to customers using a biopsychosocial assessment model
- Good oral, written and presentation skills
