The Role

Occupational Health Advisor with Team Prevent will be working on-site as part of a small team.


Key Tasks & Responsibilities

  • To take responsibility for the day-to-day clinical delivery of the service through provision of sickness absence case management, health surveillance and fitness for work assessments
  • Provide a concise and precise report to management indicating an employee’s fitness to work and detailing any reasonable adjustments with timeframes
  • Identify, assess and advise on any workplace hazards or contributing factors to Musculoskeletal disease
  • Conduct workplace assessments such as DSE/Vehicle assessments as and when required and provide advice and recommendations as appropriate
  • Maintain clinical objectivity and impartiality at all times in line with occupational health guidance
  • Deliver effective evidence-based rehabilitation that adheres to national clinical standards
  • Utilise a bio-psychosocial approach combined with functional assessment to address barriers to work and inform robust work recommendations
  • Complete comprehensive assessment and treatment records in line with company policy and national guidelines and support maintenance of confidential health records
  • Contribute to the wider health and wellbeing national initiative by utilising a holistic approach and working closely with the client  to promote healthy lifestyles
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the clinical support team and admin team to ensure optimal case management
  • Ensure close liaison with the customer, providing quantitative and wherever possible qualitative information for their use and ensuring their business needs are met


General Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Maintain continuous professional development (CPD) through reflection, participating in 1:1’s, clinical supervision, team meetings and any other relevant CPD activity
  • Maintain excellent communication in a timely manner and proactively engage with client’s, HR, operational management and colleagues
  • Liaise regularly with your line manager and escalate any complex cases as appropriate
  • Be aware and work within any agreed Key Performance Indicators and notify management if unable to do so
  • Prioritise work with effective time management to ensure all tasks are completed accurately and within set timescales/KPI’s
  • Work pro-actively taking initiative and responsibility at your site of work
  • Actively contribute to the overall effectiveness and development of the clinical service
  • Awareness of relevant legislation. Be aware of responsibilities placed upon you under the Health & Safety at Work Act (1974) and ensure that agreed safety procedures are carried out to maintain a safe environment for all
  • To undertake any other duties compatible with the grading of the post, as required


Qualifications & Skills

  • Registered General Nurse
  • Qualification in Occupational Health or in training – preferably to degree level
  • Computer literate
  • Experience of sickness absence management
  • Experience of immunisation and vaccination programmes
  • Good working knowledge of health and safety legislation
  • Good oral, written and presentation skills
  • Experience working in the automotive industry an advantages
